SILVER LINING!!!

OMG!  I am so excited!  Went to see the plastic surgeon today about closing up the hole in my belly.  She said she could do it, but that she needs to do a panniculectomy to achieve the best results!  HOORAY!!!

I never thought I would be able to have any plastic surgery at all, and now I'm getting all the loose skin removed from my abdomen and the insurance should (will, pretty please!) PAY for it because it is NOT a cosmetic procedure!

I tell you, sistas, it is a mighty dark cloud that has no silver lining.  I can hardly believe such a good thing might come out of this long bad slow healing wound.  I am beyond thrilled with the prospect.

So, now we have to hurry and pu**** through the insurance.  The PS said for me to expect the insurance company to reject our first request.  She said they always do because they assume it is a cosmetic procedure. But she said there is plenty of medical evidence and reason for her to do the panniculectomy and eventually they will have to agree with her diagnosis.  My only problem is getting them to agree before the end of the month.

I told her I was really good at pushing people to get things done.  Stand back and let me at 'em!  I am not going to miss this opportunity to a) get this hole healed and b) get my flat tummy back!

Just had to share with my sistas who I know will understand my excitement!  Love you all!

That is SUPER!!!  You deserve the "bonus" for all you've been through.  Now you can go bikini shopping!

Praise the Lord!!!  That is awesome news.   I am thrilled for you.

PRAYING HARD THIS HAPPENS FAST FOR YOU!!!

Thanks, everyone!  I know I will have a battle with the insurance company, but hopefully the PS and I will prevail.  I'm a little scared of having another big surgery.  Y'all know what happened with the LAST one!  But I will be seeing my hematologist next week, so if I do have some kind of rare blood disorder that causes me to bleed unpredictably, I'll know it before surgery and we can address it.  Also, the PS and I are going to have a LONG talk about staph infections!!!

And I highly doubt, Miss Mary, that I'll be bikini shopping!   LOL!  I didn't wear bikinis when I was 20.  I've always been too modest.  But I will surely be happy to have my "poochy" tummy flat again!  Besides, it will get rid of this huge 8 inch scar from my navel to my pubic bone.  How cool is that?

I will keep y'all posted, but for now we're playing wait and see with Blue Cross.  I looked up their general policy on panniculectomy and I don't meet the requirements at all.  I have no rashes and my panni doesn't hang below my pubic bone.  But then, I'm not having the operation because I have a huge and bothersome panni.  I'm having it because I have a wound that will not heal.  So we'll see how reasonable they will be.

Appreciate all the prayers you can throw my way, sistas!  Love you all!
